Step by step

This is the best proof that when you really want something you can make it happen.
I am keeping busy recording every donation and matching your donations with the messages you have sent. This is so rewarding though, I really have no complains. Just the thought of how much these donations will mean in the end... make it all worth it.

First donation

I am pleased and proud to announce two great news:

1. I have reached and surpassed the $500,000.00 level. I am more than grateful to everyone who believed and continues to believe in my dream. Each donation is very much appreciated. And to show my appreciation I have a second wonderful news.
2. An initial donation of $150,000.00 is on its way to make a difference in a number of programs under the guidance of the American Cancer Association. Our donation is $ 75,000.00 - the other half being a sponsored match.

This is just the beginning. Thank you for everything. Without your kindness and help I would have never been able to achieve any of this.

New sponsors - matching your donations

Good things .... bring good news: every penny that will be donated for cancer research is being matched 100%. Isn't that awesome?
A question that seems to come back fairly often in your emails: Can I just make a donation for the cause without sending any item/message for the final auction?
Of course you can. Choose any of the options including the one where you can choose your own amount for the donation. Make sure to mention that your donation is for cancer research and that you will not be sending any items. And guess what! Your donation will be matched when I write the charity check .

The one million dollars goal gets closer

An overwhelming number of people have visited my Onemilliondollarshome.com website and the donations keep coming in constantly.

I'm receiving emails from families hit by this unforgiving disease - cancer. I wish I could help so many of them and it is becoming harder and harder to make the decision: stick to my original plan of donating to a hospital / charity or donate to families who desperately need this money for treatment and medicine now.
It is heart ranching to read the stories in emails or hear them from those I meet.
However, at least for now, I am hanging on to the initial plan. Feel free to give me your feedback on this matter (especially if you have already made a donation or if you are planing on making one).

Once again, I'm amazed how well everyone is responding and how generous your donations are. My heart is growing every time I receive a new notification from PayPal regarding a received donation. This money will make so many people happy! It will be the difference between life and death.

As a special note, I've started visiting hospitals, talking to different charities and researching to see where these funds will be best used and most effective. Keep sending your suggestions along with your donations.

Everyday I get tons of emails and site reviews that help improve the look and the way I deliver my message. I read every single one of them and I hope you can tell that I'm applying your suggestions.

About balance in life and cancer research

Before coming to America I used to think of Americans as people who have everything and become greedy and selfish in the process of obtaining what they want. Living here has taught me that, although "every forest has bad branches", many people - even in this country of "have it all" - have a big heart and higher goals than their own wellness.
In my own quest to achieve the American Dream, I almost became one of those selfish people whom I used to despise. Working so hard everyday and barely paying my bills because I always wanted more and better in life... brought me to be a kind of person I didn't want to be. The worse part... I started to change into that person without even realizing.
It's not bad to want more and wish for better. It's human. But in life, as in everything else, it is good to have a balance.
It's unbelievable how things work out. You are on the borderline of losing faith; than one small thing happens and everything changes. Your whole perspective on things is broadened in an unexpected way ...

I want to have a home. It's selfish and it's how this whole "Million dollar home" thing started. But truth is, if all I wanted was to have a home I could've done what every other American does: get a mortgage. I've always been great at saving money; sooner or later I would've had my dream. So it's not that I can't get a home on my own. It's that I want more than just to have a home. Getting an awesome home was the initial goal. Now, that is only an "excuse" to bring hope to others and build greatness; it's only small piece in the big puzzle of a bigger goal. I want to make a difference. It's the only way this crazy adventure I involved myself in makes sense.

This whole thing is becoming more and more like a full time job. Just keeping everything together and organized, coming up with a design idea for the final expo, making sure everything is presented as it should, responding to all messages and questions, dealing with the media...
When I started this I didn't have the slightest clue how big this will become. But it is all worth it. And it's not the home that makes me all "warm" inside anymore. It's the fact that I realized how many people I touched. It's the fact that people still believe - which almost amazed me!
It took a while, but I finally understood that my actual purpose for doing all this is accomplishing something amazing that has the potential to change lives: finding a cure for cancer.
It couldn't be more fitting. There are many reasons for my choice, including the fact that cancer killed my grandmother, but at the end of the day... you do not need a reason to make the choice to support a noble cause.
Sure, I could've went about it the same way every other very respectable charity does: pour hundreds thousands of dollars obtained from charity and govern in an ostentatious party and invite the cream of the crop of the wealthy world to attend (as exemplified on 20/20). It works.
I believe more in the "power of masses". I don't want one to donate because the other rich guy did. I want people to feel like they want to do this; and I want you to want to donate because you understand this is worth it.
I'm raising money for worthy cause and I'm having fun doing it.

Politics

I guess things do happen for a reason. It must be luck, faith or ...something cause I didn't really think much or plan all this out.
When I started this almost unthinkable quest, it was right before Christmas. Many people opened their hearts in the spirit of the holiday and Christianity.

Now, the political campaign is helping get closer to my goal as well.
I'd like to go on the record and say that I do not openly endorse any politician, party, or political association. However I welcome anyone who needs a unique channel of self promotion.
Today I have received a $10,000.00 donation from the Clinton camp. This generous donation was made in exchange for a banner space.
Many thanks. Any word from the competition? I'd like to believe that the next president of the United States encourages innovation.
